The National Counselling Service for Survivors of Institutional Abuse has been developed as a result of the Government's decision to ensure that all survivors of such abuse have access to the highest standards of counselling in their own area.
Counselling services for survivors of institutional abuse are now available in all the Health Board areas. Each board is to have its own director of counselling, and these directors have all now been appointed. The service will be developed further over forthcoming months.
The Health Boards will work closely with the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse to provide counselling to people attending the commission, and the National Counselling Service has committed to a close relationship with survivors groups. The directors of counselling can be contacted at the freephone numbers found in the directory.
